Full day Basics in Beekeeping Course
Would you like to start keeping bees? Why don't you join us on one of our training days, where we’ll talk you through all the basic principles of beekeeping
Paul & Chloe will teach you the art of beekeeping at Endon Quarry Apiary in Kerridge Cheshire. Between us, we have nearly 20 years of commercial beekeeping experience and would love to share our knowledge. Join us for a full day’s learning where we will teach the basic theory & practical skills needed to be able to keep your own bees.
Our one-day ‘Basics in Beekeeping’ course combines basic theory & practical hands-on beekeeping in a relaxed environment. We aim to leave all our newBEE’s confident in being able to care for their own colony of bees.
The course runs from 10 am - 4 pm at the Endon Quarry Apiary.
Maximum 10 people per course (minimum age 16years)
Full course details & terms and conditions below:
What you'll learn:
The day will begin with refreshments and a theory presentation in our beekeeping warehouse, going through topics such as:
The lifecycle of the honeybee, what is swarming, pests and diseases, which hive to choose and different equipment available. You will get your own printed copy of the presentation, to look back on later.
We’ll aim to have lunch at 1 pm
For the afternoon, we’ll get you kitted out in a bee suit and hands on down at the on-site apiary. We’ll help you to build your knowledge and confidence in opening a hive and knowing what to look for to keep your colony healthy. We’ll show you the types of bees and the different jobs they do in different parts of the hive. At the end of the day, we’ll give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
